At The Fairs In Summer 2007 and 2008

SDFair5.jpg

In 2007 we again displayed a traveling reptile and amphibian zoo at some of the major fairs in Minnesota and South Dakota. This exhibit is the next step in the process of our having a permanent reptile and amphibian zoo here in Minnesota. In 2007 our exhibit displayed more than fifty different species of reptiles and amphibians in naturalistic exhibits.  The exhibits featured animals native to North and South America, Africa, Asia, and Australia. We also featured a small giftshop featuring a variety of reptile related merchandise and a photo booth where our guests could have a photo taken with one of our fascinating animals for a small charge. In 2008 we will be adding many new cool animals so we hope that you will have a chance to come and enjoy them.

Making fun a tradition for 140 years, Dakota County Fair visitors can count on new events this year to entertain the veteran visitor.

Paul Burkel, manager of the Dakota County Fair, said this yearís fair that runs from Monday, Aug. 7 through Sunday, Aug. 13 will offer many new events to live up to the fairís motto ìWhere Memories Are Made.î

One new event sure to amaze youth and young at heart is a reptile garden, Burkel said. The new exhibit is called the Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Zoo out of Owatonna. The reptile garden has garnered rave reviews as it has been exhibited at other fairs, Burkel said.

One board member saw this exhibit and brought up the idea to bring it to the fair, Burkel said.

The reptile garden will be located on the south side of the carnival and there will be a small admission price.
